Updated Review:Storm & Fury by Jennifer L. Armentrout

“I was nothing more than storm and fury”

– Jennifer L Armentrout

Happy Book Birthday Jennifer L. Armentrout!
Thank you Harlequin TEEN and NetGalley for an eARC of this book.

Storm & Fury was one of the first ARCs I was approved for when I started my blogging adventure back in February/March. I had requested it thinking it was actually another book, but was ecstatic to be able to read such a highly anticipated book by such a well known author. In my rush to read this book though, it wasn’t until after I finished it that I found out it was a spinoff to Armentrout’s The Dark Elements series. While I understood the book and did enjoy it, to celebrate the release day I decide to go back and actually read The Dark Elements.

I read all three books in TWO DAYS. I loved the series and it helped me to appreciate some of the characters more in Storm & Fury. Lots of characters crossover, including my now all time favorite book beau Roth. It also gave me a lot more understanding of Zayne, who I really wasn’t that into if you read my original review. I did not like him in The Dark Elements, I thought he was too passive and did a crap job of showing his feelings for Layla and even though he states he doesn’t finally make a move because of Roth, it sure as heck seems that way to me. So while I didn’t like him, knowing his past and motivations behind his actions helped me to appreciate him and maybe grow to like him a bit more in Storm & Fury.

After going back and reading the first series I so had to go back and re-read Storm & Fury. Everything made much more sense and it was easier to pick up on things faster. Even though I thought I knew what was going on by the end of the book my first time through, I was still missing some information. I also knew Zaynes’ background along with those of the DC Warden Clan. Not to mention I was actually excited by the appearance of Roth, Layla, Caymen and even Bambi! Knowing these characters’ stories really added another layer to this story and gave me a little something extra to look forward to.

After all is said and done I still really loved this book and Peanut was definitely still my favorite character. Zayne might be growing on me and Trinity such a kick ass main character that I loved following. The end still gutted me and I’m not sure how I’ll possibly ever wait another year for the next book. At least I know there will be more Roth in my future though *swoon*.
