The Lucky Ones takes on the heavy aftermath of a school shooting, something that seemed almost like a daily occurrence here in America just last year. May is a survivor, her twin brother was not. Zach wasn’t at the horrific event, but struggles with his mom being the lawyer of the shooter. I was so focused on the actual event itself that I never considered the aftermath of it all and how hard it would be for survivors. How do you pick up the pieces after or set foot in another school again? Does everyone deserve to be defended? This is the book we need and I really hope it makes an impact.
